
Mike Mullaney began his high school hockey career at Central Bucks East under coach Andy Richards before transferring to Germantown Academy where he was a standout defenseman with the likes of star forwards Bobby Brody, J.J. Reydel, Rob Schlegel, and Mike McGregor. Mullaney played a big part in Germantown’s first-ever back-to-back Flyers Cup Class AAA championships in 1982, and 1983, the feat was also a first in Flyers Cup Tournament history. After the 1982 season, Mullaney won the Inquirer’s All-Southeastern honorable mention for his blueline defense with the Patriots.
Mullaney played his college hockey at New Hampshire College during his freshman year, then transferred to St. Lawrence for three years before transferring to Drexel University in his fifth year where he played club hockey. He later went on to play professional hockey in the Sunshine Hockey League, “SUHL”. The Sunshine Hockey League was a Minor Professional hockey league that operated from 1992 to 1995. It was comprised of teams in cities across Florida, and in its last season of competition, one in California.
