The Bishop Egan ice hockey program launched its inaugural season in 1975, playing in the LBCSHL exclusively for thirty-three years before the program’s end in 2008.

School name change:

In 1992, Bishop Egan Catholic High School (an all-boys school) and Bishop Conwell High School (an all-girls school) merged in 1993 to form Conwell-Egan Catholic High School, a coeducational institution located in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania. The merger was announced in December 1992 by Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and the combined school opened in September 1993. Bishop Conwell High School was closed, with its students and operations moving to the existing Bishop Egan facilities.

Eagles hockey returns:

In 2023, Eagle alumnus Mike Delfin restarted the program. After fifteen years, the once mighty Egan Eagles returned to play in the ICSHL, “Inter County Scholastic Hockey League.”

The Winningest Egan coach in program history:

Read about the all-time winningest Eagles head coach, Rich Slack.

History:

A little bit of history behind the uniforms. The Eagles played their inaugural season with New York Rangers jerseys. The following two seasons were played with no logo.

“A number of the guys on the team also played on a local club team ( I believe the “ Bucks County Rangers” ) ; and since they already had these jerseys, we adopted the red/white/blue Rangers jersey as our team jersey ( despite the fact that Egan’s school colors were Blue and Grey). However, it was also a statement of “ protest” to the administration at Egan, and a passive-aggressive way to “ thumb our noses” at the school since they would not provide us with jerseys …or ANY financial support. We all purchased the same “ Rangers” jersey… or at least, a reasonable ( and cheaper) facsimile. Before the playoffs started, however, a group of parents generously designed an Egan logo ( in red/white/blue ) and had them printed. They then collected all of our jerseys, removed the tackle twill “Rangers” from the jerseys, and sewed the logo on them…using their own money and taking the time to do so. We were so lucky and grateful to have their support.”
