Adam Berkle was raised in Collegeville, PA. He went to and played for the LaSalle Explorers, playing all four years from ninth grade to senior year. Adam was a big player, at 6’3″ and almost two hundred pounds, he commanded the puck on the ice playing a power forward style of offense. In 2008, he was a member of the Class AAA Flyers Cup and Pennsylvania Cup championship team. This was the team’s second combined title, separated by a decade, under head coach Wally Muehlbronner.

At the conclusion of his high school career, he moved on to play a year at Northwood Prep where he led all players while compiling 58 points in 39 games (26g | 32a). After a year at Northwood, Adam moved onto the USHL, where he played for the Youngstown Phantoms and wound up fifth in scoring overall on the team. In his second season, Berkle, was selected to be team captain and coincidentally also came in fifth in scoring. Over two seasons in juniors he compiled 28 goals and 27 assists for a total of 55 points in 120 games.

Adam’s main objective was to earn himself a scholarship at Northeastern University. Although it didn’t work out the way he had hoped, Adam did get a D1 scholarship with Bowling Green University. In his freshman year, (2011-2012) he was one of only four Falcons to play in all 44 games during the season…scored seven goals ranking fifth on the team…his 14 assists ranked second on the team…ranked fourth on the team with 21 points, and was one of four Falcons to hit the 20-point plateau… led the team in shots with 125 on the season…ranked third on the team with two game-winning goals…finished the season with a minus -8 on-ice rating…committed 17 penalties for a total of 45 PIMs…secured his first career point with an assist against Connecticut in a 4-4 tie, finishing the game with a plus -2 rating…scored his first goal against Lake Superior State, a game-winner in a 1-0 win…recorded his first multi-point game against Canisius with a two-assist effort in a 3-1 win…earned an assist in a 4-4 tie against Miami…after an assist against Ohio State, he recorded two goals and an assist against Alaska in a two-game set, marking his first career three-game point streak…recorded two assists in a 3-2 win against Notre Dame, finishing the game with a plus -3 rating…scored goals in back-to-back games against Ferris State and Michigan to close out the regular season…led the Falcons with seven points against Northern Michigan in the first round of the playoffs, scoring two goals and five assists in the three-game series.

Year two, as a sophomore, (2012-2013) he was one of only six Falcons to play in all 41 games during the season…ranked sixth on the team with seven goals…ranked sixth on the team with 14 assists…ranked fourth on the team with 21 points, and was one of only five Falcons to reach the 20-point plateau…finished the season with a career-best plus-8 on-ice rating…opened the season with a point in each of the first four games, including his first goal of the season against Union (10/12/12)…secured an assist in back to back games against OSU (10/27/12) and MSU (11/2/12)…scored a goal and was +2 against Ferris State (11/16/12)…scored the game-tying goal against Alaska (12/8/12) in Fairbanks…recorded an assist against No. 5 Notre Dame in a 4-2 Falcon win (1/15/13)…recorded an assist in back-to-back games  in the Falcons’ sweep against LSSU…recorded a goal against Ferris State on (2/16/13)…earned an assist against Notre Dame (3/2/13)…Scored two goals and added an assist in the Falcons first first-round playoff series with Lake Superior (3/8-10).

Junior year, (2013-2014) Adam played 34 games for the Falcons…ranked fourth on the team with a career-high 10 goals on the year…ranked fifth on the team with 11 assists…ranked tied for fifth on the team with 21 points, and was one of six players to reach the 20-point plateau…finished the season ranked second on the team with a plus-13 on-ice rating, marking the best plus/minus rating in his first three seasons with the Falcons…finished the season with 80 shots on net for a .125 shot percentage, which ranked seventh on the Falcons for the year…registered a team-high three short-handed goals on the year, marking the first Falcon to tally three short-handed goals in a single season since 2008-09 (Brandon Svendsen)…tallied an assist against No. 16 Union on the road in a 3-3 tie (10/11/13)…recorded two assists at home in a 6-1 victory over Alaska-Anchorage (11/1/13)…netted a short-handed goal against No. 18 Minnesota State on the road (11/8/13)…tallied an assist against No. 14 Ferris State on the road in a 3-3 tie (11/15/13)…tied a career high with three points at home against Minnesota State during the Falcons’ 4-3 win (11/22/13)…registered two goals on the road against Alabama-Huntsville, helping the Falcons sweep the Chargers (Jan. 3-4)…netted a short-handed goal at home during the Falcons’ 3-0 win over Alaska (1/10/14)…registered two goals at home against Lake Superior in a 6-2 triumph, giving him a new career high for goals in a single game (1/25/14)…recorded an assist in three consecutive games from Jan 31-Feb.14…totaled two assists at home against Bemidji State, helping the Falcons earn home ice in the WCHA playoffs for the first time since 2007-08 (3/8/14)…tallied two goals against Michigan Tech in a playoff-series clinching 5-2 win at the BGSU Ice Arena (3/15/14).

In Adam’s senior year (2014-2015), he was named to the leadership group as an assistant. He finished the season with seven goals and 14 assists to tie for fourth on the team with 21 points. He was one of three players to record at least 100 shots on the year and he picked up two power play goals and seven power play points, tied for second-most on the squad. He leadership and experience was invaluable as he played in 158 career games. The Falcons improved their win total in every season with Berkle on the roster. Adam was also awarded The Howard Brown Coaches Award.

On Tuesday August 4, 2015 Adam signed his first pro contract with the Reading Royals in the ECHL. He played one season, over 18 games he had one point, an assist.
