Sam Lipkin went to and played for the La Salle College High School Explorers from 2017 through 2019. He was an impact player on offense with exceptional speed, intelligence, and play-making ability. Lipkin played on and anchored one of the best offensive lines in the league with teammates Daniel Sambuco, and Michael Casey. Sam tallied 24G | 36A for 60 points in only 25 games as the leading scorer for the Explorers. In the 2018-2019 season, the Explorers raced through the APAC (Atlantic Prep Athletic Conference) winning the Class AAA Flyers Cup, and Pennsylvania Cup Championships.

After the 2019 school year, Lipkin chose to leave La Salle, heading up the turnpike to play for the North Jersey Avalanche where he billeted with a family while he played for the club. I am uncertain where and how he completed his final two years of high school, unfortunately, I cannot elaborate. Sam played one season with the Avalanche splitting time in the AYHL, and BEAST, and even played four games for the USHL Chicago Steel as a 16-year-old. He moved on to play for the NCDC New Jersey Rockets and again split time playing thirty games for the Chicago Steel in the USHL again. Sam played his final season (2021-22) with the Steel serving as team captain in 2020. Over a total of one and a half seasons spanning over 2020 to 2022, he collected 82 points, scoring 39 goals with 43 assists in 93 games played.

In 2022 after a three-week courtship with Quinnipiac University, Sam chose to commit to the Bobcats to continue his education and play Division one ice hockey. In his freshman season, Lipkin scored 14 goals and 29 assists for a total of 43 points in 39 games played. He was also a teammate on the U20 United States Men’s World Junior Championship team. In his second season with the Bobcats, they found themselves in the National Championship playing against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Lipkin provided the primary assist on the overtime-winning goal to skate away with the Division One title. Sam was drafted by the Arizone Coyotes in the seventh round, two-hundred twenty-third overall in the 2021 NHL entry draft. He currently plays for the Tucson Roadrunners, the Coyotes AHL affiliate in the American Hockey League. Lipkin recently scored his first professional hockey goal on October 30, 2024.
