Archbishop Carroll took a giant stride toward defending its Flyers Cup title by posting a 6-4 triumph over Germantown Academy on the second night of round-robin play in the second annual Flyers Cup at the University of Pennsylvania’s Class Of ’23 rink last night.

Jeff Arnold scored five goals for the Patriots. Arnold who has 10 tournament goals – scored three times while Carroll was shorthanded. John Hopkinson notched a hat trick for Germantown Academy.

In the nightcap, Vince McNamee posted 4 goals as Bishop Egan held off Haverford High (Kenny Lutz, 2 goals), 6-5. The win leaves Carroll at 2-0. Haverford and Egan are at 1-1, with Germantown Academy at 0-2. The final preliminary game will be played on Monday. The teams with the two best records will meet in a Wednesday final.
