Mike Bill, a senior at Father Judge and The Inquirer’s city athlete of the week, did something last week that even Wayne Gretzky has not accomplished: he scored five goals in a playoff game.
Bill scored the goals in the Crusader Club’s 6-1 victory over Bishop Egan in the deciding game of the Lower Bucks County Scholastic Hockey League championship series. It was the first league championship for the Crusaders. “Nobody expects five goals from one kid, but if anyone would do it, it would be Mike Bill,” said Cru-sader Club coach Bill Connors. “He was hot. It was one of those nights.”
Bill, a center, scored 14 goals and added 20 assists in the 18-game regular season.
“He’s a real hard-working kid,” Connors said. “He’s a real team leader.”
