The regional hockey playoffs, matching the best teams from the three area leagues, will begin Monday with four games.
Playoffs in the three participating leagues — the Inter-County, Suburban, and Lower Bucks are continuing, but most regional participants have been determined. Last night, Archbishop Carroll won its second Inter-County title in a row, beating Radnor, 6-3, to sweep a best-of-three series in two games.

Also, Archbishop Ryan also won its second league title in a row, defeating Archbishop Wood, 5-4, to win the Lower Bucks League’s two-of-three playoff in two straight. Archbishop Carroll, Radnor, Archbishop Ryan, and Archbishop Wood have qualified for the eight-team regional. So have William Tennent and Germantown Academy, the finalists in the Suburban League. Malvern Prep and Cardinal O’Hara are holding a mini-series to determine third place in the Inter-County and the seventh spot in the regional.

Council Rock, the third-place finisher in the Suburban League, will meet Bishop Egan, third-place in the Lower Bucks League, in a special one-game playoff tomorrow night to determine the eighth spot in the regional. The regional competition will be double elimination, beginning with four games Monday night. Tennent will meet Wood at 8:45 p.m. in the Face-Off Circle Rink, Old York Road, Warminster; Ryan will face the Inter-County’s third-place team (Malvern or O’Hara) at 8 p.m. in Grundy Arena, Bristol; Germantown Academy will play Radnor at 7:30 p.m. in the Skatium, Darby, and Manoa Roads, Havertown, and the Council Rock-Egan winner will meet Carroll at 9:30 p.m. in the Skatium.
