March 22, 1979 The greatest scorer in area hockey Bistory Scott Chamness of Arch- bishop Carroll High School heads the third annual Inquirer All-Area team.With shifty moves and a great shot, Chamness is one of the best scholastic players in the Middle Atlantic states. His scoring totals border on incredible and have earned him nationwide attention. The 5-foot, 11 inch, 170-pound junior scored 89 goals in just 17 games to shatter all local scoring records. He added 45 assists and 134 points to earn a unanimous selection to the team. Joining Chamness is linemate Greg Arnold, who skates effortlessly and is a dangerous scorer; deceptive forward Erik Ginkinger of Cheltenham; workhorse defenseman Eric Girardi of Germantown Academy; hard-hitting, power-shooting defenseman Rick Brosious of Lower Merion; and heady goaltender Dave Rominiecki of Archbishop Ryan. “I developed my shot with a lot of practice shooting,” Chamness said. “I do a lot of […]

The one hundred points club is a distinct milestone accomplishment which holds a special place in high school hockey history. Each player identified represents the school program they played for over the course of their student eligibility until graduation, typically ninth grade through twelfth. Some players began playing as early as eighth grade until the mid-nineties when early varsity participation was outlawed in league play.
